Will India win their second match against NZ at T20 WC?

India will take on New Zealand in the 28th match of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Super Sunday. This match is being considered as a virtual knockout for both sides, as whoever wins this game will have better chances of ending in the top two spots. India were completely thrashed by the arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening encounter. They didn’t get the start they expected, which affected them in setting up a good target. There might be some changes in their eleven against the Kiwis.

New Zealand, on the other hand, were in the game for the most part of the match against Pakistan, but the sixth-wicket partnership between Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali took the game away from them, as the Kiwis lost the match by 5 wickets. They have a 100 per cent win record against India in the T20 World Cups.

Playing his final tournament as the captain of the T20I side, Kohli had vowed to come back stronger from Pakistan’s historic win over India at the T20 World Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan’s heroics helped Pakistan in breaking the 29-year-old jinx as Babar & Co. registered a 10-wicket win over India last week at the same venue. Azam’s high-flying Pakistan side extended their winning run by outclassing Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the low-scoring thriller at Sharjah.

In order to revive their World Cup campaign, Kohli and Co. will have to end New Zealand’s reign of dominance over the Asian giants in ICC events on Sunday. After contesting the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship, India and New Zealand will battle for T20 supremacy at the Dubai International Stadium. Over the years, the Williamson-led New Zealand side has been the hoodoo team for Team India in ICC events.

Preparations in full swing

The 2003 World Cup was the last ICC event where India recorded a win over the Black Caps. Since then, New Zealand have outclassed India on four separate occasions across all ICC events. Speaking ahead of the mouth-watering clash, Kohli confirmed that Hardik Pandya is available for selection despite taking a blow on his shoulder during the Indo-Pak encounter in Dubai.
